Raycast is an excellent launcher.
⌘Space to open anything. Calculate. Expand snippets. Tile windows. Add from thousands of extensions. And most of that is in the free tier.
So the first question isn’t “is Raycast Pro expensive?” It’s whether you need Pro at all.
The free tier already does a lot

So Pro’s value is really four things: unlimited clipboard, unlimited notes, AI, and sync. The launcher itself doesn’t change.
Look at it annually
$10/mo is $120/year. Annual billing at $8/mo is $96/year. Advanced AI adds another $8/mo on top.
Now re-read what that’s buying: clipboard retention, note count, AI, and sync.
How many of those do you genuinely need? “I want something I copied three months ago” is a rare situation. The common frustration is the thing you copied a minute ago getting pushed out — and free already handles that.
AI is the real exception. Reaching a model straight from the launcher is a nice experience, and some people happily pay $10 for it.
MacSide AI is not a launcher

Big gap — but it’s worth stressing that these aren’t identical products. Raycast Pro includes cloud sync, which nothing here replaces if you want a consistent setup across multiple Macs. Custom themes are also not nothing when you look at the thing every day.
Keep Raycast Pro if
- You use multiple Macs and need sync. MacSide AI doesn’t fill that gap.
- You like Raycast AI specifically. The launcher-to-model flow is genuinely distinctive.
- You’re on a team. Shared commands and the AI Control Center are Teams territory.
- You live in extensions. This is Raycast’s decisive strength.
Worth reconsidering if
- You upgraded but the only thing you notice is clipboard history.
- You already pay for AI elsewhere — with ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro on the bill, Raycast AI is often duplicate spend.
- You have one Mac and nothing to sync.
- You’re also buying separate apps for capture and image work.
